Chairman's Message

The Institute for National Security Strategy (INSS) is a think tank devoted to developing national security strategies and policy proposals for the South Korean government. In adherence to the principle of “seeking truth from facts (實事求是),” our primary objective is to bolster our nation’s global standing by enhancing the well-being of our citizens and advancing our national interests, thereby contributing to Korea’s emergence as a global leader.
Since its establishment in 1977, the INSS has diligently monitored the security and political dynamics of the Korean Peninsula and the global arena.
In addition, the INSS has focused on formulating policy alternatives to address multifaceted crises confronting the nation, encompassing international issues, North Korea and inter-Korean relations, and emerging security challenges.
The INSS endeavors to be a forward-thinking and inclusive research institute by drawing upon creativity and intellectual prowess to anticipate and proactively prepare for emerging security threats from cyber attacks, terrorism, pandemics, artificial intelligence, disinformation to hybrid warfare.
Motivated by an unwavering dedication to the security and prosperity of our country, and mindful of the responsibilities bestowed upon us by the current era, we are committed to fulfilling our role as a premier think tank and pioneering innovative approaches to safeguard the future of South Korea
